Let's visit Toronto's first 'zero-waste' grocery store...
It’s easy to value convenience but who chose what’s convenient for us? Growing up in India, I can say with certainty that we lived rather mindfully (and conveniently) up until the early 90s - bulk purchases, refill systems, local and fresh produce, quality over quantity, need over desire.
But we changed with globalisation and rampant consumerism taking front seat and driving us all on a bullet train of all things ‘fast’. What’s the problem with that, you ask?
The only and the biggest problem with that is we have detached ourselves from our surroundings, the environment we inhabit, the very land our fast paced train lay its tracks on. Give this a thought and remember that we dictate our own convenience. Of course, it can be achieved in more ways than one.
Kind, aware & open to change - you have your starting steps right here.
